Frederick
Francis was born on the 23rd of June 1881 in Wyndham
Street, Alexandria. His parents names were Michael and
Bridget.
On
the 5th of February 1902, Frederick joined the
Australian Army. He was 21 years old. On the 1st of
April 1902, officers and men of the 3rd Battalion
embarked at Sydney on the ship "Manhattan".
They sailed from Sydney on the 2nd of April 1902 to
fight in the Boer War. 28 days later on the 30th of
April 1902, they arrived at Durban, South Africa. 4
months later, Frederick returned home to New South
Wales on the 11th of August 1902.
On
the 22nd of June 1911, the day before his 30th
birthday, Frederick married Catherine Henrietta Hogg.
They married in The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
in
Waterloo.
They had their first child, Frederick M, in
1912. Followed by Michael John, in 1913, Mary Monica in 1916, Francis Arthur
in 1918, Joan N in 1920, and Noelene in 1931.
Frederick
died on the 21st of May 1938 at St Vincent's Hospital,
Sydney, from pneumonia. He was buried on the 23rd of
May 1938 in Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park - Grave 658.
